WEST ALLIS, WI – Morgan Shepherd’s Faith Motorsports Dodge qualified 38th and finished in the 37th position in Saturday’s Camping World RV Rental 250 at the Milwaukee Mile.
With engine problems haunting the driver for the past two weeks, the team turned to an old reliable Ernie Elliott power plant that was nearing the 900 mile mark for this weekend’s race.
“We were in a real bind this week, but we were able to get an engine for our primary car late on Wednesday,” Shepherd said. “We starting putting it in our main car, but had already made the decision to run the backup car and motor at Milwaukee.
With a 48-car field and no Top 30 owner’s points to fall back on, Shepherd turned a safe set of qualifying laps securing a 38th starting position for the team.
With very limited sponsorship for Milwaukee and two engines in the rebuild shop, Shepherd said the team is again in a daily struggle financially to get to the next level of performance.
The team caravan plans to travel from Milwaukee straight to New Hampshire on Sunday and Monday and work there to prepare its primary chassis for the upcoming Camping World RV Sales 200 next Saturday at New Hampshire International Speedway.
“We need sponsorship,” Shepherd said. “We have had to lay a couple of guys off and we are very short handed on this trip, but we will continue to push on and pray that someone will come on board with some financial help.”
